They used you up
They beat you to a pulp
They filled you up with drugs
They stole your strength to love
And you wonder why I have no time for you now
When you've asked me to help you
But I don't know how
And the closest you've come to forgiveness in years
Is forgetting your anger and fighting your fears
But you know that that's not enough
Is this the last chance I'll have
To drag you back
To try to give a gift you can't receive
To fail to be the rescuer you need
And you wonder why I have no time for you now
When you've asked me to help you
But I don't know how
And the closest you've come to forgiveness in years
Is forgetting your anger and fighting back tears
But you know that that's not enough
Hard to pick a favourite song on this beautiful album. Songwriting that is as challenging as it is accessible as it is enduring: that must be the song-writer's Holy Grail... Clearly Andrew Howie has been drinking from that cup! Fergus McNeill
Inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, the latest from Erik Gundel is the best kind of sensory overload, full of sizzling electronics. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 16, 2022
I heard this story about a breaking band, being told that Brian Eno was at a gig to check them out for a contract. Afterwards he comes back-stage and gives his verdict: "I fell asleep". Band members crushed. Until realizing it was a great compliment, coming from Eno. I'm like Eno, in that respect.
Selecting ambient tracks for calm meditation and rest, there are two Lawson albums, both from 2004, that stand out to me. This is one of them! (The other one: Grace and Gratitude.) Marc Taksi
